KIDS COUNT

KIDS COUNT, a project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, is a national and state-by-state effort to track the status of children in the U.S.

By providing policymakers and citizens with benchmarks of child well-being, KIDS COUNT seeks to enrich local, state, and national discussions concerning ways to secure better futures for all children.  As the state-level grantee in Ohio, CDF-Ohio develops data-driven products that provide a local picture of child well-being.

KIDS COUNT CENSUS

Clear and accurate Census data is the life blood for a strong Ohio. But a series of vital policy decisions made this year could place Ohio’s communities at risk of an inaccurate census count, limiting their political power and federal funding for the next decade. Children’s Defense Fund-Ohio has released a four-part series of infographics, The Census Matters for Ohio Communities, detailing the impact of the census on Ohio’s communities and sharing information for local governments about the Census Bureau’s Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) Operation

Children and the Affordable Care Act (ACA)

Rushing to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) without first presenting a replacement plan that protects all families and children from loss of coverage and benefits would be a disaster for Ohio children. Before Congress undoes the very significant gains we have made over the past six years, it must provide a comprehensive replacement plan that works for ALL children.
